East Mount Airy recognized as a top urban neighborhood

East Mount Airy was recognized this week as one of the nation’s “hottest” neighborhoods.

The Northwest Philadelphia locale was highlighted by 24/7 Wall St. – a business news website – for being one of the 10 best “up-and-coming” urban neighborhoods in 2013.

Here is what 24/7 Wall St. had to say about the East Mount Airy:

” Mount Airy, split into East and West areas, is known as one of the more successfully racially-integrated neighborhoods in America. Home prices are rising sharply on a year-over-year basis, and only a small amount of inventory is available according to Trulia. The New York Times recently lauded the appeal of the neighborhood’s attractive home prices and ‘socially-conscious’ lifestyle.”

24/7 asked Trulia.com, a real estate website, to compile the list based on yearly price changes in a given city.

East Mount Airy was ranked eighth. Neighborhoods in Texas, Georgia and California also made the list.
