Documentary highlights at least one obsessive Northeast video gamer

Dan Bustard really likes video games.

His obsessive gaming took over his life and, he says, nearly brought him to suicide. Instead, he found his way into an Online Gamers Anonymous group and halfway house in Harrisburg.

Then he brought a camera crew to the Northeast.

A new documentary that follows the real and virtual lives of several obsessive gamers launched in select theaters and on Hulu.com last Friday, as Geekadelphia reported, and Bustard, of Wissinoming, is part of the lineup.

Fifteen minutes and five seconds into the documentary — boom — Bustard is walking down Torresdale Avenue and comes upon Chink’s Steaks at 15:32, as we were first told by our friends at the Frankford Gazette.

At 31:30, the documentary identifies Bustard, but lists him from Philadelphia, not noting the Northeast and certainly not Wissinoming, though we know he’s one of our own.

Anyone know Dan? Dan, we wish you live a long, productive and happy life.

The documentary, Second Skin, which was much awaited from gamers and geeks, was directed by relative newcomer Juan Carlos Pineiro Escoriaza. Watch the full documentary below.
