Digital mapping of building collapse may help attorneys

Attorneys are hoping to use the information being collected by Montgomery County’s forensic engineering firm, DJS Associates of Abington, to help them reconstruct the collapse and the building at 22nd and Market streets both before and during the demolition.

The firm uses high-tech equiptment to digitally preserve the site of the building collapse and then uses that information to create a full three-dimensional digital rendering.

“For that very high degree of accuracy, sometimes you go back and reconstruct where objects were, where the placement of a building was, where the placement of a vehicle was at its point of rest before it was moved, things of that nature,” DJS president Steven Schorr told CBS Philly.
