Preliminary hearing for Mt. Airy dentist rescheduled to June 26

An East Mt. Airy-based dentist who allegedly sold prescriptions for painkillers out of his Germantown Avenue office will now appear in Philadelphia Municipal Court on June 26. This after today’s preliminary hearing was rescheduled.

Chandrakant Parekh, 63, allegedly sold prescriptions for Oxycodone and Percocet for between $30 and $40 from his post on the 6500 block of Germantown Ave. near Sharpnack Street.

Parekh was arrested May 10 following a month-long investigation by the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office. Investigators uncovered pre-written prescriptions and empty crack baggies.

Parkh is charged, among other things, with illegally selling a controlled substance, reckless endangerment and possession of drug paraphernalia.
