Delmarva Power nearly completes restoration effort after damaging storms

Efforts continued into this morning to restore electricity to Delmarva Power customers who lost their service in Friday night’s severe thunderstorms.

The utility says a derecho – a gusty straightline windstorm – brought down trees and power lines, at one point leaving tens of thousands of homes and businesses without electricity.  As of Monday morning, 97-percent of Delmarva’s affected customers had their power restored.  Outages remained in parts of Odessa, Townsend, Middletown and surrounding New Castle.  For more information, Delmarva Power can be reached at 1-800-898-8042.  Updates are available as well through the utility’s online map.
