DelDOT honors worker killed last year

DelDOT will honor a 24 year old worker who was killed in a work related accident last year.

The state Department of Transportation will rename the Ellendale Maintenance Yard after Eric Givens.  The DelDOT worker was killed in October 2011.  Givens was operating a lawn mower when it hit a support wire that was connected to a utility pole.  As he tried to free the mower, the wire made contact with a live electrical wire, electrocuting Givens.

Members of his family along with Governor Jack Markell will be on hand for today’s renaming and dedication ceremony.
