Delaware woman shot while sleeping in her bedroom

New Castle County Police are searching for several suspects in connection to a shooting, during which a woman was hit by gunfire as she slept.

Officers were called at about 4:15 a.m. Sunday to a home on Martindale Drive in Brookside near Newark.  A 46-year-old woman had already been taken to Christiana Hospital for treatment of several gunshot wounds.  The injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.  The woman was asleep when the shots were fired, and her two children were also asleep on a mattress in the room but were not injured.  The exterior of the home was also damaged.  The woman is listed in stable condition.  Police only know that several male suspects were involved, and they made their getaway in a gray or silver four-door Honda.  Anyone who can assist in the investigation is asked to call New Castle County Police at 302-395-8110.  Information also can be provided to www.nccpd.com, or Delaware Crime Stoppers at 800-TIP-3333.
