Delaware unemployment down for most of 2012

Delaware’s jobless rate fell through the first 11 months of the year.

November’s unemployment rate is the latest numbers that are available.  The Delaware Department of Labor reports that 6.7% of Delaware’s workforce were unemployed last month.  That’s a slight dip from October’s 6.8% unemployment rate.

Delaware started the year with a January unemployment rate of 7%.  The rate had fallen over the last few months before that from 7.2% in November 2011.  The rate declined or held steady through 2012 until hitting its lowest point of 6.7% in June.

The rate crept back up to 6.9% in August, but then started the decline that ended at 6.7% in November.  As of November, 29,564 Delaware workers were getting unemployment help.  That’s down from this year’s high of 30,939 in January.
