Delaware teen gunned down in Wilmington

Wilmington Police are asking for the public’s help in finding the killer of a 17-year-old boy who was  gunned down over the weekend.

Police were called Saturday afternoon at about 4:00 p.m. about someone who had been shot lying in the street in the 300-block of New Castle Avenue.  The victim, who was from Bear, had suffered a gunshot wound to the chest.  Paramedics rushed him to Christiana Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The victim has been identified as Larry Parks, who was in the 10th-grade at Pencader Charter High School in New Castle.  School Leader Ann Lewis said counselors were on hand as students returned to school this week to help them deal with their grief.

Students are also writing their thoughts and remembrances on posters and cards that will be presented to his family.  As a school fundraiser for the family Thursday, students and staff will be asked to donate three-dollars in order to be able to wear red, which was Larry’s favorite color.
