Delaware lawmaker injured in fatal crash

Delaware Representative Dave Wilson suffered cuts and bruising, following a fatal three-car crash on U.S. 113 southwest of Lincoln earlier today, according to Wilson’s communication staff.

A spokesman for the Bridgeville Republican says initial reports show two people died as a result of the accident, which occurred at 10 a.m. in the northbound lanes near Haflinger Road.

An investigation is underway, but sources at the scene say a car traveling southbound crossed the median and struck a pick-up truck in the northbound lanes. Rep. Wilson’s car was next to the pick-up truck, also headed northbound, when the initial collision pushed the truck into Wilson’s car.

Early reports indicate the two people in the southbound car were killed at the scene; two of the three inside the pick-up truck were treated at the scene, while the third was flown to Beebe Medical Center in Lewes for more serious injuries.
