Delaware High School sports enters big week

This is a big week for High School sports in Delaware.

The 2010 DIAA State Soccer tournament heads into the semifinals on Tuesday and the finals on Saturday.

Meanwhile, the 2010 Division 1 Football tournament starts up this weekend and runs through the next 3 weekends.

There are two new teams making their debut this year. St. George’s Votech and Appoquinimink are seeded for the first time. The Appoqunimink appearance means both Middletown high schools are a part of this year’s tournament. The finals will be held December 4th at Delaware State University.

Number one St. Marks and number two Middletown have a first week bye. Teams will be reseeded after games on Saturday.

So far there are no surprises in the state soccer matchups. The top seeds have advanced as expected. Here is a look at how the soccer tournaments shape up.
