Delaware beaches court visitors after Sandy

Beach resorts in Delaware are looking for a rebound after the damage caused by Superstorm Sandy and as the economy improves.

Carol Everhart of the Rehoboth Beach-Dewey Beach Chamber of Commerce tells The News Journal they saw a 20 percent increase in requests for information between January and April.

Based on early bookings, Delaware Tourism Office Director Linda Parkowski says resorts are hoping for a 25 percent increase in travel to Delaware this summer.

But Jack Lingo Realty in Rehoboth Beach, which often caters to Washington-area travelers, says it has not seen any uptick in rentals for beach houses this summer.
