4-foot alligator found, shot in Chester Creek

Police in Delaware County have shot and killed a massive reptile, the Daily Times reports.

A man noticed the 4-foot alligator while walking along Chester Creek, and reported it to authorities.

Aston Animal Control Officer Allen Strickler told the Daily Times that he’d been hearing rumors about a pair of alligators in the creek for several weeks, but had not been able to find them.

Stickler added that the gator’s bite probably couldn’t have killed a human, but that bacteria inside it’s mouth could have posed a serious infectious threat.
