Couple rescued from flooded Delaware underpass

Parts of northern Delaware have received more than two inches of rainfall, leading to flooded roadways and several rescues.

Members of the Minquas Fire Company and Christiana Fire Company responded to Old Stanton-Christiana Road at the Stanton underpass at about 8:30 a.m., where a senior citizen couple apparently tried to drive through the closed roadway.  Rescue boats were brought to the man and woman, who managed to walk to safety with assistance from firefighters.  They were evaluated for possible hypothermia but did not need hospital treatment.  The Red Clay and White Clay creeks as well as their tributaries are expected to continue rising today.
