Writers, photographers and students fill WHYY station for freelance training program

Nearly 100 aspiring NewsWorks contributors came to WHYY’s headquarters last week to sharpen up their multimedia skills and learn how NewsWorks runs its freelance operation.

Teachers, English majors, journalism students and many of NewsWorks’ current freelancers sat in on various training workshops in news writing, reporting, photography, audio gathering and videography.

NewsWorks journalists taught each of the 45-minute skill-building workshops.

On behalf of NewsWorks, we’d like to thank those of you who were able to attend Correspondents U. If you weren’t able to make it, don’t worry, this won’t be the last one.

As we prepare to launch a mini site for New Jersey news and make plans to expand our operation into other areas of the region, we look forward to the opportunity to bring in new talent and fresh ideas. If you’re interested in becoming a contributor for NewsWorks, please send us an email at Newsworks@whyy.org.
