Cops: Philly officer shoots suspect who refused to drop gun

A Philadelphia police officer has opened fire on a fleeing suspect, wounding him once in the leg after investigators say he refused to drop a gun.

Police say the man was shot around 11:30 p.m. Thursday as officers were responding to a report of shots fired in the city’s Frankford section.

The suspect is in stable condition at Albert Einstein Medical Center.

Police say he ran from a crowd with a gun in his hand and another in his waistband. He did not shoot at the officers.

Police say they later a Glock 9mm with an extended clip and a fully loaded revolver at the scene.

They say they also found two shell casings possibly connected to the earlier shooting.
