Coast Guard helicopters will be taking off more frequently from Air Station Atlantic City.

The flights, which will begin Wednesday and continue through April, are part of training for new pilots who will eventually be responsible for airspace security over the nation’s capital.

Instructors and crews must fly at least two flights almost every day over a six-week period.

The Coast Guard says there will be increased helicopter activity over the inland waterways between Barnegat and Tuckerton, in addition to Ocean City and Stone Harbor.
