Cindy Bass files petition challenge against Jim Foster

Cindy Bass, the Democratic candidate running for City Council in the Eighth District, filed a challenge to Jim Foster’s nominating petitions yesterday.

Foster, the publisher of The Germantown Chronicle and The Northwest Independent, is seeking a spot on the November 8th ballot along side Cindy Bass and independent candidate Brian Rudnick.

Last week Rudnick challenged Foster’s nominating petitions. This morning he sent NewsWorks an email with this line: “(Cindy) You came in second in the race to challenge Foster’s flagrantly fraudulent nomination papers. Get used to it.”

The Philadelphia Daily News reports that the Bass campaign found “numerous defects” in the petitions submitted by Foster.

Yesterday was the deadline to challenge any third party candidates’ nominating papers. No word yet on whether any voter has filed a challenge against independent candidate Brian Rudnick.

The next step will be a hearing on Foster’s petitions before a city judge.

All three candidates are running for Councilwoman Donna Reed Mlller’s seat. Miller is not running for re-election.
