Cheltenham High School teachers part of hunger strike for Iran hikers

In honor of Cheltenham High School graduate Josh Fattal, teachers there are participating in a rolling hunger strike to help bring justice for the former student.

Fattal and his friend Shane Bauer have been detained in Iran since they accident crossed the border in 2009 while hiking in the area. They’re accused of espionage, and the trial scheduled for the pair in May was pushed back to July 31.

The Glenside News Globe Times Chronicle reports 10 teachers have joined the rolling hunger strike Fattal’s mother started when the trial was delayed. Supporters have taken turns fasting in support of Josh and Shane’s own hunger strike to protest Iranian authorities’ withholding of letters sent to the detainees.
