Center City District hires construction company for Dilworth Plaza project

The Center City District has retained Gilbane to serve as the owner’s representative for the $50 million transformation of Dilworth Plaza and to assist immediately with the evaluation of construction bids, which are due next week. Gilbane has managed many Philadelphia projects, including an airport expansion.

Construction on the plaza, located on the west side of city hall, is set to begin later this year. “The plaza will be transformed into a high-quality, well-managed civic space, a gateway to transit and a sustainable centerpiece that links together the Pennsylvania Convention Center’s new Broad Street entrance to South Broad’s Avenue of the Arts, tie together East and West Market Streets and provide a solid anchor for the Benjamin Franklin Parkway,” says a CCD press release.

Also from the release: “Gilbane was founded in 1873 and has more than 138 years of construction experience. In the past 10 years, Gilbane has successfully managed nearly 30 projects in the Philadelphia area, including the Philadelphia International Airport Terminal D/E Expansion and multiple projects at Temple University. The company has annual revenues in excess of $4 billion and more than 2,000 employees.”
