Cedarbook deacon’s preliminary hearing on sexual assault allegations postponed

A man with ties to a church in the city’s Cedarbrook section who allegedly molested five women will now appear in Philadelphia Municipal Court Jan. 26, according to court officials. This, after today’s preliminary hearing was continued.

Courtney Wilson, 56, was arrested on Dec. 5 after the women told police that he had sexually assaulted them repeatedly in their youth while he was a fellow member of Remnant Church of God 7th Day, located on the 7700 block of Ogontz Avenue.

Wilson is facing 14 charges including rape, indecent sexual assault, endangering the welfare of a child and intimidation of a witness. The charges are connected to alleged incidents between 1997 and 2005.

Wilson will await the rescheduled court date in prison.
