Police release video of carjacking at gas station in Allegheny West

The Philadelphia Police Department released surveillance footage on Tuesday detailing a carjacking that occurred this week in the Allegheny West neighborhood.

At 10:15 a.m. Monday, a 61-year-old male was at the LukOil gas station located at 3130 West Hunting Park Avenue. An unknown male pulled into the gas station in a late-1980’s Oldsmobile station wagon and walked to the cashier booth behind the complainant.

Shortly thereafter, the suspect entered the complainant’s car and attempted to drive away. The victim turned and reached into his vehicle attempting to stop the offender, but the offender drove off, dragging the victim for several feet with his vehicle.

No injuries to the victim were reported, and his vehicle was recovered several blocks from the scene. The Oldsmobile station wagon was later determined to be stolen.
