Camden teen brings skateboarding to reopened Camden park

Camden’s Stockton Park reopened today with a ribbon-cutting ceremony led my Mayor Dana Redd.

But as WHYY’s Lizz Fiedler tells us, Redd singled out one Camden resident at this morning’s event to acknowledge his role.

The whole reason Stockton Park now has a skate park in it? Angel Fernandez.

On the advice of his mother, the 15-year-old wrote to Redd expressing his desire for a skate park. And the city delivered. Lizz will tell us more about Angel, the park and the state budget’s effect on Camden later.
