Burglar flees Roosevelt school after failed attempt to steal computers

A burglar who broke into the Roosevelt K-8 School and attempted to steal several computers early Thursday morning eluded capture by police who responded to the scene.

According to Officer Tanya Little, a department spokeswoman, officers were dispatched to the school when a burglar alarm went off around 3 a.m.

Little said police observed someone running inside of the building upon arrival. Officers then called for a K-9 unit and searched the entire building multiple times, but did not find the perpetrator.

The unknown burglar reportedly entered the school through a basement window and ripped wires loose in an attempt to steal several Apple computers. The burglar also reportedly vandalized an office in the school, but did not get away with any items.
