The fire started around 5 a.m. this morning at a first-floor heater, but smoke was still rising to the higher floors of the building when students arrived, so Principal Helen Chaykowsky decided to send students home for the day while the situation is assessed.

There was no damage to the building, and there have been no reported injuries.
