Best of the best: winners for best Vendy in Phila. Announced
The best of the best in mobile cuisine were on hand to compete in Saturday’s Vendy Awards in Philadelphia.
According to the Vendy Awards Twitter feed, Gigi & Big R Caribbean/American Soul Food earned the win.
Chef and owners Elukene Rene and Thomas Bacon have been in business for 10 years producing their Caribbean and American soul food.
On the Vendy Awards official Twitter feed, Sweet Box won for dessert, while Cucina Zapata won the “People’s Choice” award.
The Vendy Awards were held Saturday at the Piazza at Schmidts in the city’s Northern Liberties neighborhood.
The event helps to raise money for The Food Trust, a non-profit organization that works to build a strong food economy.
