Authorities investigating attempted child abduction in Brick

    A 10-year-old girl escaped an abduction attempt Saturday evening in Brick, police say. 

    The child was playing hide and go seek with her friends at the Waterside Gardens apartment complex near the Kettle Creek around 9:00 p.m. when two men called over to her to come with them, according to Brick Township Police Department spokesman Capt. Ron Dougard.

    “When she refused, they followed her,” he said in a release. “One of the males got close enough to her and told her that if she didn’t go with them, he would force her to go. The male then grabbed her by the arm. The victim pulled away and fled away from the subjects. The males ran in the opposite direction and entered a running minivan (identified as blue and “dirty” with silver rims) and drove away.”

    Subject #1: A white male wearing a NY Yankees baseball hat, blue tank top shirt, and blue jeans. He has tattoos covering both of his arms, to his wrists, and smelled of alcohol and body odor.
    Subject #2: A white male wearing an unknown color baseball, white cargo shorts, tan shirt, and glasses. He may have had a tattoo on his right bicep.
