An ATV driver and his passenger were injured in a late Wednesday afternoon crash on Route 37 in Toms River, police said.
Robert Tomasello, 24, of Rock Hill, S.C. and his passenger, Marc Cappuccino, 20, of Toms River were traveling across Route 37 at Northamption Boulevard on a 2000 Yamaha Quad when they collided with Susan Mazzella, 68, of Matawan, said Ralph Stocco, Toms River Police Department spokesman.
Mazzella was turning onto Route 37 from Northampton Boulevard when Tomasello entered the intersection through a red light, he said.
Tomasello was transported to Community Medical Center in Toms River, while Cappuccino was taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune for treatment of more serious injuries, according to the spokesman.
Police charged Tomasello with traveling through a red light and operating a motor vehicle with a revoked driver’s license, Stocco said.
Ofc. Robert Westfall is investigating.
