Atlantic City union reaches deal with four casinos

The main casino workers’ union in Atlantic City has reached agreement on a new contract with four casinos. Local 54 of Unite-HERE says it has made a tentative deal with the four gambling halls owned by Caesars Entertainment , Caesars, Bally’s, Harrah’s and the Showboat.

A ratification vote will be held on Tuesday. The casinos had been seeking steep concessions on hourly pay, and wanted employees to contribute for the first time to their health and pension benefit costs

The union says terms of the deal won’t be released until after the rank-and-file votes. But union president Bob McDevitt says the three-year pact maintains a decent standard of living for workers while helping Atlantic City casinos deal with financial difficulties.
