Atlantic City International Airport was closed for a short time this afternoon after a suspicious item sparked a full evacuation of the airport.

The closure began when security personnel checking luggage discovered an item that was potentially suspicious, the Press of Atlantic City reported

That prompted the evacuation, which authorities say was out of an abundance of caution.

“State police not letting anyone in. Dump trucks blocking entrance,” @BobMarsdale tweeted at 4:20 p.m.

Police evaluated the items and deemed them as harmless, reopening the airport about an hour later.

Referring to the airport reopening, the New Jersey State Police tweeted at 4:43 p.m. that everything at the airport was “all good.”
