Assistance available for low-income Delawareans with their utility bills

Delawareans who are having trouble paying their utility bills have a place to turn.

The Delaware Energy Assistance Program is a federally-funded program administered by the state.  Homeowners and renters may apply for possible funds.  However, assistance may be limited so low-income families and individuals who meet specified income guidelines are invited to apply as soon as possible.  The application period lasts through March 31st, 2011.

Assistance may cover home energy related bills between October 1st and March 31st, as well as emergency issues such as threatened shut-offs or running out of home heating oil.

Catholic Charities runs the program on a contractual basis with the Division of State Service Centers.  For information on how to apply:
