Asbury Park, the Jersey Shore’s ever-revitalizing city by the sea, offers one of the best beaches in the world, according to a major travel magazine.

Money Magazine’s “The 14 Best Beaches in the World” ranks Asbury Park as #2 in its domestic list, which includes locales in Florida, New York, California, Michigan, South Carolina, and North Carolina.

According to the publication, the list includes “sandy retreats, breaks surfers will love, lush foliage-hidden escapes, and kid-friendly options with boardwalk games” that all share the “ideal mix of waterfront amenities and affordability.”

To compile the list, the magazine says its analyzed thousands of data points.

Asbury Park “offers the classic combo of beach and boardwalk,” according to the magazine.

It’s not the first major magazine accolade for the Monmouth County city.

Travel + Leisure ranked Asbury Park #10 in a list of 50 destinations in its “Best Places to Travel in 2016.”

Further south, Ocean City has won numerous awards in recent years. In 2016, Coastal Living Magazine dubbed Ocean City the best beach in the United States.

Ocean City was also ranked New Jersey’s most popular beach in 2009, 2014, 2015, 2016, and 2017 in New Jersey Sea Grant Consortium’s annual public poll.

And in 2015, Oyster.com, a hotel rating company, named Cape May among the country’s “most adorable” beache towns. Coastal Living magazine also named the Victorian community as among country’s “happiest” seaside towns.
