Arrests made in cabbie shooting

Wilmington Police have arrested two people, and are looking for one more individual linked to the March 5th shooting of a taxi driver.

Deronta Persons from Milford and Cristofer Jackson of Ellendale face attempted murder, robbery, conspiracy and weapons charges.

According to the lead investigator in the case, Det. John Ciritella, the Hope Taxi driver received a phone call for a fare, picked the suspects up in Bear and drove the defendants to Wilmington. When the driver reached the area of “A” Street and South Walnut, Ciritella say Persons and Jackson robbed and shot the cabbie, then fled the scene.

Det. Ciritella believes an unknown person gave the defendants a ride out of the city and police are asking for the public’s help identifying that individual.
