An Incognito Printshop Holds Steady on Baltimore Avenue, 19143

Lately, new businesses have been rapidly appearing on West Philly’s Baltimore Avenue. Fresh facades and signs seem to be popping up overnight, announcing businesses catering to a slowly but undeniably shifting demographic.

Sandwiched between the local co-op market and a new gaming store is RECLAIM Print, a small production print shop and “community resource & political workspace.” RECLAIM has no signs on its shopfront and unless drawn there by curiosity, you might have walked by it for years never knowing what it was. And Quan Blanche, RECLAIM’s owner, likes it just like that.

Every ZIP Philadelphia was created in 2015-16 in collaboration with independent producer Alex Lewis as part of AIR’s Localore: Finding America production. Through radio stories, photo essays, public events, and more, the project worked with community residents to create a documentary portrait of Philadelphia across space, medium, and time.
