After confusion, police finally nab alleged East Germantown shooter

Philadelphia Police think they arrested the man who allegedly fired shots at officers in East Germantown Wednesday morning. James Ceaser, 30, from the 5000 block of Girard Ave., was arrested Thursday morning, a day after police K-9 units led officers to the wrong man.

Police got a call that a man was breaking into a car on the 300 block of E. Elwood St. around 6 a.m. When officers approached, he allegedly fired three shots. Police did not return shots and no one was injured.

Shortly thereafter, police dogs led officers to the 300 block of Shedaker St., where they arrested a man. On Wednesday night, Northwest Detectives issued a statement noting that when they took him in for questioning, investigators determined he was not the right suspect. They later received a tip which led them to Ceaser, police said.
