About the author, illustrator and radio cast

Chris Satullo and Tony Auth have done a serialized, illustrated Christmas story together every year but one since 1996. The first dozen stories appeared in the pages of the Philadelphia Inquirer. Since 2009, the tales of the holiday story appeared on-line at WHYY.org and NewsWorks.org, and aired on WHYY-FM as radio plays. Four of their stories were collected into their 2004 book, A Christmas Quartet.

Tony Auth has been the Pulitzer Prize-winning editorial cartoonist for the Philadelphia Inquirer for more than 40 years. He’s won every important national and international award for cartooning. He’s also illustrated many children’s books, including several with Chaim Potok.

Chris Satullo is vice president, news and civic dialogue, at WHYY. Before joining WHYY, he was editorial page editor of the Inquirer.

The radio play of “Whiteout Christmas, with Tony, Chris and WHYY staffers acting up a storm, will air on 90.9 FM at 8 p.m. Friday, 1 p.m. Saturday and 4 p.m. Christmas Day.  Look for the complete cast list below.
