AAA’s tips for protecting your car from potholes
The city is rampant with potholes. After layer upon layer of snow and ice, navigating the holes has become second nature for drivers and bikers. If you haven’t already given up on leaving your house this winter, AAA has some advice for preventing damage.
Make sure your tires and suspension are up to the task.
Put your cell phone/coffee/newspaper down and pay attention to the road.
Don’t speed, because you’re not supposed to anyway.
Watch out for potholes disguised as puddles.
And if you do hit a pothole (how can you not?), check your alignment afterward and listen for new noises to determine if something’s come loose.
If you’re biking, wear a helmet for pete’s sake.
Philadelphia’s Streets Department wants you to report potholes. Agents should expect two calls every minute.
