Inquirer: Cronkite lends name to effort to save SS United States

Staff writer Sam Wood reports that lengendary boradcaster Walter Cronkite is supporting the effort to preserve the SS United States ocean liner currently parked on the Delaware River in South Philadelphia by accepting the post of honorary chairman of the SS United States Conservancy

As PlanPhilly previously reported, the ship has been put up for sale by its owner, Norweigan Cruise Lines, though many believe it would just be sold for scrap and would like to see it preserved and reused.
