76ers seek $82 million in tax breaks for Camden facility

The Philadelphia 76ers ownership is seeking $82 million in tax credits over 10 years for building a practice facility in Camden.

The New Jersey Economic Development Authority is scheduled to consider the application at its meeting Tuesday.

The amount requested is listed on the authority’s agenda.

Team CEO Scott O’Neil declined to comment on Monday. And the team has not said how much it expects the facility to cost.

To qualify for tax credits under the Grow New Jersey incentive program, businesses must commit to bringing jobs to distressed areas. Camden is among the nation’s most impoverished cities.
