6th Great Extinction headed our way…

The planet is infested… by us.

Prominent biologist Stuart Pimm of Duke University is the lead author of a study published Thursday in the journal Science. It concludes that Earth’s flora and fauna are becoming extinct 1000 times faster than before we arrived on the scene. The world’s 6th great extinction may well be the result.

Habitat loss (we’re crowding other species out) climate change and overfishing are the main culprits.

Previous mass extinctions have been associated with asteroids colliding with Earth. The 6th great extinction, if it occurs, will be unique…caused by one species, Homo sapiens, having run amok.
