New Castle County Police say they are searching for a suspect in the abduction of a 4-year-old who was found hours later.

New Castle County Police said in a press release that they are looking for a man suspected of abducting a 4-year-old girl on Thursday near Pike Creek. Authorities say the girl was found almost two hours later near Newport.

New Castle Police spokesman Officer JP Piser says witnesses in the area saw a 4-year-old girl playing outside when she was approached by a white man with dark hair driving a dark-colored sedan. The man took the girl and fled.

Piser says officers were searching the area when a bystander found the child near Newport.
