Police need help identifying robbery suspects in 39th District

Philadelphia Police are investigating two robberies in the 39th District that may be connected. Since Sept. 9, two Metro PCS stores and a Subway restaurant were robbed on Broad Street.

The suspects twice entered Metro PCS stores inquiring about cell phones and when the employee turned around, one was brandishing a handgun and demanding money.

On Sept. 9, an employee of the Metro PCS at 3154 N. Broad St. gave the suspects $850 in cash, according to police. A week later, the suspects took $130 from the 3712 N. Broad St. location on Sept. 16. They are also suspected of a robbery occuring at the Subway located at 3228 N. Broad St.

In surveillance video of the Sept. 9 robbery provided to police, one suspect appears to be about 5-foot-5 with a thin build, 140-150 lbs, wearing a light Polo hat and a dark hoody. The other appears to be 6-feet tall, 160 pounds and wearing a T-shirt and jeans. Both are also suspected of a robbery occuring at the Subway located at 3228 N. Broad St.

“We have the surveillance video posted on our website as well as our YouTube Channel,” said Officer Christine O’Brien, a police spokeswoman, “which has really been a great outlet for solving these crimes.”
