39th District: Seven laptops stolen from Wissahickon Charter School

39th Police District Crime Blotter Feb. 4 to Feb. 10

Feb. 4, 2011

600 block W. Rittenhouse St. – complainant said three people robbed him at gunpoint while he was walking at the location. Offenders ran off with a Nokia cell phone and $125. Two of the offenders were later arrested after the complainant identified them.

3200 Authority Terrace – complainant said an acquaintance slammed a door on her hand during a physical altercation. The complainant was taken to the hospital after suffering a partially severed thumb. The offender was arrested.

4100 block N. Broad St. – complainant said three men approached and hit him in the head with an unknown object. The offenders fled with a wallet, book bag and a silver and gold watch.

3600 block N. 21st St. – 42″ Sony TV and Panasonic DVD player stolen from the property. Complainant said his son let an acquaintance into the place and that when he returned home the items were gone.

1600 block W. Hunting Park Ave. – complainant said another car struck hers while driving at the location. When she pulled over and approached the other driver, he had a gun in his hand. The complainant walked away after he pointed the firearm in her direction. The offender then sped off and struck the complainant’s car once more. Complainant did not go to the Northwest Detectives Division due to child care issues.

4200 block N. 16th St. – 1998 Pontiac Bonneville stolen.

3400 block N. 18th St. – complainant said four men attacked him after he had an argument with one of them over a loan. That man hit the complainant with a stick, while the others kicked him repeatedly. The four offenders were stopped, indentified and arrested.

2500 block W. Silver Street – 42″ flat screen TV, DVD and antenna stolen from the property. There was no forced entry. Complainant said her friend and neighbor both saw her ex-boyfriend take the items from her home. Complainant said she took the key back when the relationship ended in June and that he must have made a copy.

2400 block W. Elkhart St. – gold bracelets stolen from the property. Complainant said she came home to find two men running down her stairs. The offenders then jumped out of a dining room window. Complainant said she chased the offenders to no avail. She said her bedroom was ransacked and the items were stolen.

Feb. 5, 2011

5500 block Pulaski Ave. – police observed a man holding a handgun to the complainant, who was laying on the ground, while two other men were kicking and punching him. All three fled when police approached, but were caught and arrested following a foot pursuit.

2800 block N. Ringgold St. – police responded to a call for gunshots and found the complainant laying on the ground with three or four shots in his back. Police took the complainant to the hospital. No bullet casings were found on the scene.

Feb. 6, 2011

4900 block Wayne Ave. – Complainant said an acquaintance punched him several times in the head after he asked him to leave the location. The complainant said the man continually sells drugs there. The offender fled the location and returned with a rifle. The incident was caught on surveillance camera. The offender was later arrested.

5000 block Germantown Ave. – complainant said someone stole her pocketbook from the back of her chair while she was at a bar at the location. The bag, taken sometime between 9-10 p.m. Jan. 30, contained a cell phone and various IDs.

Feb. 7, 2011

3200 block McMichael St. – police observed a vehicle speeding down the street. When they pulled the car over, they found a teenager suffering from three gunshot wounds to the neck, chest and stomach. The complainant was taken to the hospital and later pronounced dead at 11:45 p.m.

2900 block W. Abbotsford Ave. – complainant said someone pointed a gun at him, lead him into a restaurant and then demanded that an employee hand over money. The offender ran off with $500.

4100 block Newhall St. – PSP game system and several games and movies stolen. Complainant said a man staying at her house likely took the items.

4300 block Wayne Ave. – complainant, a teacher, said a student threw a chain across the room after an argument with another student. The chain hit the complainant.

3200 N. 15th St. – five Xbox video games and three watches stolen from the property. Complainant said there were no signs of a forced entry, but said the bottom lock handle sometimes doesn’t work. He said he didn’t use the deadbolt when he left.

3800 block N. Bouvier St. – 1998 Pontiac Bonneville stolen. Complainant said he went to the store and when he came back the car was gone.

Feb. 8, 2011

500 block W. Clapier St. – Sony Playstation, games and Dell laptop stolen from the property. Complainant said someone entered his home between 12-12:15 p.m. while he was at the store. There were no signs of a forced entry.

4400 block Driftwood Drive – 42″ Panasonic TV and a Ruger handgun stolen from property.

4400 block N. Cleveland St. – 36″ Panasonic TV, DVD player, Gucci handbag and several DVDs were stolen from the property. Complainant said the items were stolen while he was out at a store for a half hour.

3500 block N. Smedley St. – Dell Inspiron laptop and laptop bag stolen from a 2002 Honda Accord.

3300 block N. 17th St. – copper pipes stolen from the property’s first floor apartment.

2900 block N. 22nd St. – 1996 Mercury Cougar stolen. Complainant said he parked and left the vehicle running while he ran into a store. When he returned, the car was gone.

Feb. 9, 2011

5200 block Greene St. – 2001 Ford Windstar stolen. Complainant said she parked in front of the post office and went to work. She got off, the car was gone. Complainant said she may have left the keys in the car throughout the day.

4900 block Wayne Ave. – T-Mobile cell phone stolen. Complainant said someone took the phone from his book bag that he left on the ground during a basketball game.

1900 block W. Wingohocking St. – Complainant said someone kicked in her front door and stole $600 from a front bedroom.

1900 block W. Hunting Park Ave. – two amps, two step ladders, water cooler, saw machine and more stolen from the property. Witness saw offender leaving the place with the items. Witness and complainant held the offender until police arrived. Offender was arrested.

Feb. 10, 2011

4700 block Wissahickon Ave. – seven laptops stolen from the Wissahickon Charter School. Principal states the items were taken from the computer lab. He said various teachers have keys to the lab.

4700 block Wissahickon Ave. – Two 40″ flat screen TVs stolen from the property. Complainant said someone entered the facility with an access card and took the items.

1600 block W. Erie Ave. – television, DVD player and portable radio were stolen from the property. Complainant said he came home to find the front door and living room doors open. He also found a smashed kitchen window, a man’s baseball cap, a BB gun and a hacksaw. None of those items belonged to the complainant.

1600 block W. Erie Ave. – T-Mobile cell phone stolen. Complainant said he left the phone on the counter at the location and that two offenders grabbed it and fled the scene.

3300 block N. Broad St. – Apple laptop stolen from a locker in the men’s room. The locker was secured with a combination lock, but complainant said there was no damage to the lock or locker. Complainant said he shares the unit with friends.

2200 W. Allegheny Ave. – complainant said someone stole a 2005 Case CX Backhoe. An unclear video shows the machine leaving the lot between 10-10:30 p.m. on Feb. 8.
