3 vehicle crash leaves 1 dead on N.J. Turnpike at Exit 2

Authorities say a truck overturned on the New Jersey Turnpike in southern New Jersey and a driver of a utility truck died after he slammed into it.

New Jersey State Police Trooper Alina Spies says the accident happened around 3:36 a.m. Monday on the southbound side of the turnpike near exit 2 in Woolwich. The southbound New Jersey Turnpike was closed at exit 4 and traffic was being diverted to Interstate 295.

She says that the truck overturned after it was rear-ended by a pickup truck, which went onto the right shoulder of the highway. The driver of that vehicle was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Investigators remained at the scene Monday morning.
