2nd water main break in Philadelphia in a week

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Officials had to evacuate two homes after a water main broke in a Philadelphia neighborhood.

The rupture Sunday night in a 24-inch line in Northeast Philadelphia is the second major break in the city in a week. Last Sunday a 48-inch main broke near downtown, displacing a number of residents.

At least 100 homes were affected by last week’s broken water main. It’s expected to be a couple more weeks before the most affected street is reopened following excavation and repairs.
