Engineer a massive roller coaster for plastic balls using giant blue building blocks and see how high you can make your structure, how many twists and turns you can design in, and how long it takes the balls to complete their journey. Best known as former lead singer and bassist in alt rock trio Concrete Blonde, singer-songwriter Johnette Napolitano’s profound vocals have always been her most powerful instrument. Napolitano’s songs have always been vivid feature films compressed into three-minute rock ‘n’ roll including “Still In Hollywood,” “God Is A Bullet,” and “True.” She is also one of the great song interpreters of our time, as proven by the way she turned James Brown’s “It’s A Man’s World” and Leonard Cohen’s “Everybody Knows” into distinctively Johnette songs.
