2 Philly-area deaths due to cold

Authorities have released the names of two of four people whose deaths are believed to have been related to the frigid weather.

The Delaware County medical examiner’s office says two Ridley Township residents were found outside while a third county resident collapsed while shoveling snow.

Officials said 92-year-old Alice Brown died after collapsing on a sidewalk and 89-year-old Allan Jameson apparently wandered outside and was found the next morning.

Both died of hypothermia complicated by medical conditions, and their deaths were ruled accidents.

Police said an 87-year-old man died after shoveling snow outside his Nether Providence residence.

Officials in Philadelphia are also investigating the weather as a factor in the death of a 30-year-old man found lying on the ground Thursday morning just north of Chinatown.
