2 Pa. school officials resign, DA investigating

School officials say two high-ranking administrators at a large southeastern Pennsylvania district have stepped down amid a criminal investigation and the discovery of racially-charged text messages.

The Daily Local News of West Chester reports the Coatesville Area School District superintendent and director of athletics have both resigned.

The newspaper reports Superintendent Richard Como and Director of Athletics and Activities Jim Donato each resigned effective earlier this month. School board President Neil Campbell confirmed the departures at a Sept. 10 board meeting but said there would be no further comment, citing an ongoing criminal investigation.

District Attorney Tom Hogan confirmed the investigation Friday, telling the newspaper that text messages between district personnel have been turned over to county detectives.
