19-year-old female robbed in Mt. Airy, sprays suspects with mace

Police are looking for a suspect in a robbery that took place on Jan. 11 at 8:45 p.m. The  19-year-old complainant was walking on the 6400 block of Greene Street in Mt. Airy when two females ran toward her.

One of the suspects tried to strike the complainant but missed. The complainant dropped her purse to the ground and was able to spray both suspects with pepper spray. She then ran to get help.

Both suspects were seen on surveillance video shortly after entering the Clivenden Nursing and Rehab Center at 6400 Greene St. seeking help for being maced.

A nurse on duty, suspecting the two were up to something, called police. The suspects ran from the center, leaving behind the handbag, and fleeing in a minvan — possibly a Honda.
