From the director’s desk, March 15

March 15

Dear PlanPhilly member,

Ideas developed during the Central Delaware Waterfront Design Workshop are still resonating throughout the city.  In just the last week, workshop organizers and participants have appeared on FOX 29’s Good Day Philadelphia, NPR’s Radio Times, and KYW Radio.  There has also been extensive coverage in The Philadelphia Inquirer and Daily News.  It is clear the city is excited by the possibilities the future holds, so now it is our job to ensure the civic vision is honored as we move forward in the coming months.

PennPraxis will be working with the Philadelphia City Planning Commission, planning subconsultants Wallace Roberts and Todd, and other local stakeholders to begin the formal testing and refinement of the civic vision.  New ideas will be explored, and old ones revisited as we work to develop a concept of a waterfront that is distinctively Philadelphian and embodies the Planning Principles developed by thousands of residents earlier this year.

PlanPhilly will be an important news source in the coming month, as we will be posting updates on the Planning Process as well as writing about important themes and implementation ideas.  Don’t miss this week’s feature, in which former Inquirer reporter Linda Harris tells the story of local artists inspired by the Delaware River: http://www.planphilly.com/node/1217
